Healing facility must take assent before putting patient to obtrusive technique: Consumer discussion

 

NEW DELHI: Holding that a patient has a sacred ideal as to his body, the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission said that specialists must take assent of a man or his relatives for any obtrusive method of treatment.

“Unless the system is vital keeping in mind the end goal to spare the life or save the soundness of the patient and it is absurd to defer the further method until the patient recovers awareness and takes a choice, a specialist can’t perform such strategy without the assent of the patient. In the moment case, the inclusion of catheter by Central Venous Line strategy being an obtrusive methodology conveying certain danger of difficulty including the damage to the jugular vein or blasting of the platelets, the concerned group of specialists was lawfully required to get the assent of the patient,” it said.

Advocate Nikhil Jain, showing up for the patient, fought that a group of specialists had not taken assent of relatives and because of their carelessness, jugular course was cracked bringing about profused draining and he must be moved to other clinic for treatment.
